Equipment

Research activities at iBB require experimentation that involves manipulation of delicate components (microbial, animal and human cells, tissues and cell organelles, proteins, nucleic acids, etc.). Laboratories are fully equipped with a complete portfolio of laboratory furniture (e.g. laminar flow hoods, workbenches), equipment, chemicals and supplies. Equipment is available to perform a wide range of analytical determinations (HPLC, GC and GC-MS, 1D and 2D electrophoresis, spectroscopy, microscopy, flow cytometry, particle size determination, PCR, cloning, etc), biophysical studies (steady-state and Time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), and advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques such as FRET-FLIM and FRAP) and complex bioprocess operations (stem cell and mammalian cell cultures, fermentation, centrifugation, membrane processing, process chromatography, etc).
