My work aims at the development of a cell-based product with enhanced
therapeutic features for myocardial regeneration through an integrative
bioprocess approach. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC) derived from the
umbilical cord matrix (UCM) will be the focus of this work, since it represents
a promising source of MSC for biomedical applications. I am interested in the
establishment of an efficient platform for the expansion of UCM MSC under fully
defined dynamic culture conditions. The impact of the expansion platform will be
assessed on UCM MSC cytoskeletal organization/morphology, as well as on cell
therapeutic potential.
